Beetroots, also known as blood turnips, are a great source of fibre, vitamins A and C, and the minerals iron, potassium, manganese and folic acid. Eating beets regularly aids toxin elimination from your body, purifies your blood and promotes a glowing complexion.
The vivid purple pigment in beetroot contains flavonoids that help keep blood pressure in check, boost your immune system, have anti-cancer tumour suppressing properties and stimulate skin cell turn over which slows skin ageing.
Beetroot; you can’t beet it. I’d suggest you add it to your diet a.s.a.p.
This smoothie bowl harbours a little bit of everything: alkalising greens, anti-oxidant berries, heart friendly cacao, blood sugar balancing cinnamon and of course the star of the show; beetroot.
1 pre cooked & peeled beetroot (i use the cooked vacuum packed beets)
½ frozen banana
½ cup diced courgette
1-2 tbsp cacao
1 tsp acai berry powder
1 tsp goji berry powder
2 tsp vanilla protein powder (optional, I use revolution)
½ tsp cinnamon
½ cup nut milk of your choice
3 ice cubes
Pinch Himalayan pink salt
Few squares of raw chocolate
Sprinkling of: desiccated coconut/nuts/seeds
Add all the ingredients to a blender. If you have a tiny, rubbish blender like me then you may need to blend half the ingredients before adding the rest, and blending again.
After about 30 seconds everything should be well blended, smooth and a deep purple/red shade.
Pour the smoothie mix into a bowl and start arranging your toppings.
Chuck it all on or make it pretty, it doesn’t really matter it’s all going to be eaten. Once you’re happy, grab a spoon and dig in.
The pjamas and bed socks are optional, but highly recommended for the ultimate breakfast experience.
Hope you enjoy x
P.s don’t be down beet it’s almost the weekend, so turnip the beets and party
