Bored of the same old toast toppings? I mean avocado toast is great but there is a world of possibilities out there waiting to be tried. It’s time to pimp your toast.
Toast is a classic breakfast or lunch dish that has been in most people’s diet since childhood. I used to love watching butter (ah the days before dairy intolerance) melt into the toast before happily crunching away. But things have moved on from simplistic buttered toast, it’s 2018 and it is about time you made the most of your toast.

Creamy nut butter, sweet, sticky caramelised banana and crunchy toast…mmmmmmm. I’d sprinkle on some cinnamon to help balance blood sugar levels and because I’m obessed with cinnamon.
It’s peanut butter jelly time y’all! You could sub peanut for any nut butter you like. I’d go almond or vegan nutella.
A delicious savoury sweet spread. Sweet potatoes are super high in vitamin A and one of the best sources of dietary fibre, which is essential for healthy bowels. I think this recipe would also work well with paprika.
Choose your favourite hummus flavour: plain, red pepper, beetroot etc, smoother the toast with it, garnish with kale and sprinkle with seeds and lemon zest. So good, no vibes with be kaled here.
This recipe provides a fresh herby addition to the classic avocado on toast.
Feel free to sub the beans for chickpeas, cannellini beans or whatever you like. You can speed up the cashew soaking process by placing them in boiling water for about 10 minutes or until they are soft, or try dry roasting them for 3-5 minutes to enhance their flavour.
Not in the mood for bread? No worries sub the bread for brown rice crackers or better yet, a vegetable like butternut squash or my favourite: sweet potato.
Sweet potatoes are delicious and high in vitamin A, in fact one sweet potato provides you with more than 300% of your RDI (recommended daily intake). They also contain vitamin B6, vitamin C, magnesium, iron and calcium. Top your potato toast with anything from tahini and goji berries to mustard and smoked salmon.
