This simple soothing mask contains just 3 ingredients: yogurt, honey and greens powder to moisturise, calm and detox your skin. It is my go to mask for calming my overly sensitive, redness and acne prone skin.
The yogurt contains lactic acid, an AHA (alpha hydroxy acid) produced from the fermentation of milk. Don’t be scared of the word ‘acid’ we are not talking industrial strength acid here; the lactic acid present in dairy yogurt is nice and mild for sensitive skins. It will gently slough off the upper layer of the epidermis to reduce acne, scars and fine lines.
Honey is a natural antibacterial and anti-inflammatory meaning it is great for acne prone skin. It’s also packed full of antioxidants which are great for fighting ageing and it is deeply moisturising, helping to create that glow we all desire.
Last but not least, is the super greens powder. We all know about eating and drinking greens but what about the benefits of applying them to your face? Greens are rich in anti-oxidants, vitamins and minerals to protect your skin from free radicals and daily pollution. They help detoxify the skin and deliver essential nutrients to the deeper layers of the dermis which promotes a radiant complexion.
2 tbsp yogurt (ideally dairy for the lactic acid)
1 tsp honey
1/2 tsp greens powder
Just pop all the ingredients in a little bowl and mix well until combined.
Apply the mask with your fingers or a brush, then kick back and relax for 15-30 minutes.
Gently remove with a warm wash cloth and pat your skin dry. The fine grainy texture of the greens powder acts as a natural exfoliator so your skin should feel baby soft in addition to feeling soothed and hydrated. Follow with your favourite serum/oil/moisturiser.
The mask should keep in the fridge for around 3 days.
For a targeted spot treatment, try adding 1 tsp of finely ground oats (soothes redness & irritation), a drop of lavender (anti-inflammatory/antiseptic) and a drop of tea tree (antiseptic/anti-inflammatory, studies have found it to be as effective as benzoyl peroxide for treating acne) to the mixture then dab onto spots with a cotton bud. Leave for a few minutes or overnight.
Hope you feel skincredible! x
