I basically live in either sportswear or nightwear. Most of the time I look like a class A scruff bag in hole ridden, baggy sports tights/pjamas bottoms but when sale season arrives my wardrobe gets a much needed upgrade.
My love of sportswear began a few years ago when I received a pair of multicoloured tights for my 19th birthday. I was starting to get into health and fitness and had been working out in old ballet leotards, pjama shorts and vests. Not ideal. But once these beauties entered my life, a love of sportswear was established.
A love that leads me astray; it doesn’t matter what I am supposed to be shopping for, I will somehow end up in the sportswear isle.
I’ll set the scene: a Saturday afternoon in a busy TkMaxx, my mission is to find sandals for my homeless feet and bikini bottoms for an upcoming holiday.
“Eleanor we’re looking for sandals. Don’t get distracted.” Instructs my mother.
2 seconds later…
“You do not need any more sportswear!”
“But mother look how pretty this yoga top is, how comfy these jogging bottoms look and how jazzy these leggings are…” *Tries to make cute big eyed pleeing face, but ends up looking very ‘special’.*
Exit my mum who has left me, along with her patience in the store.
Right now it’s coming to the end of the sale season which means major steals can be found and who doesn’t love a bargain?
Whilst perusing the internet for sportswear steals (strictly research of course) I discovered some brilliant bargains. Will I be buying anything? You sweat ya, I will.
Here are my sale picks.
30%-50% off: Sports tights from £12.48, bras from £14.98 and trainers from £24.98.
‘Salinas Long Tights’. They are basically made for me: high rise, long length, palm trees and my favourite colours. With 50% they are now £24.98. *Add to cart*
Up to 70% across the store in the summer sale final clearance. I managed to bag myself a half price pair of sandals and thanks to my mum’s Debenhams gold card I enjoyed free, speedy delivery. They don’t necessarily sell major sports brands or specialise in workout gear but they still have some decent stuff.
‘Beach Collection Black Print Swimsuit’. I like the cross back and pop of colour; it’s reduced to £11.40 from £38.
I’m just gonna say it. H&M’s sizing is bizarre; I can range from a size 6 to a 16! Generally their tops come up large and their trousers small (I believe they’re made for people with stick legs and a full peachy behind). However, I can’t deny they often have some good deals and thankfully they offer free, no fuss returns should your purchase not fit or look right.
‘Low Impact Sports Bra’. It’s available in 2 colours and less than a £5, you can’t go wrong.
Big brands like Nike, Reebok and Adidas from as little as £2.
‘Ellesse Kiara Vest’. Mate it’s £2, doth I need to say more?
I think their main sale has ended but type in ‘sale’ in their search bar and you’ll be taken to the outlet where you’ll find the same great quality products at discounted prices.
‘Studio Crop Top’. Perfect for yoga, with a criss cross back and a price i’d be happy to pay; 50% off at £15.
They’re currently offering up to 60% off on trainers, including big brands like Nike and Adidas. In fact, according to their ‘about us’ page MandM direct pride themselves on selling major, trusted brands at discounted prices. Sounds like a winner.
‘Under Armour Heat Gear Tech Shorts’. A wardrobe staple and only £6.59!
Most sale stuff has sold out so it’s slim pickings. However, great deals can steal be found if you hunt hard enough.
‘Active Training All Eyes On Me ¾ Leggings’. Lots of colour options, although not all of them are in the sale, my favourite is ‘sparkling cosmo-ultra yellow’.
Their sale has been on for a while. A few months ago I purchased new Nike trainers from here for half price at £42. Pricey, but not for Nike, comfort and style. Be warned, their p&p is more than other places at £4.99.
‘Nike Free Run’ in hyper violet. There are 3 things I require in decent trainer: comfort, a flex sole and bright colour to motivate me. These tick all 3.
90% of my workout clothes (and herbal teas) come from TkMaxx because you can find a breadth of good quality brands at a fraction of their original price. Right now in the clearance you can get your hands on some new sportswear from as little as £1. I repeat £1!
‘Calmia Eco Yoga Mat’. Natural, non slip and reasonably cushioned at 0.4cm, this mat retails for £59 but is just £24 at TkMaxx.
I only just discovered this site when researching sportswear sales. From what I can gather The Hut sells everything from clocks to concealer. They have a wide range of sportswear with a current offer of 10% off footwear and outdoor gear, plus an extra 10% of any sales items.
‘MinkPink Refuse To Lose Sports Bra’. A Moroccan style patterned crop top with a racer back, in my favourite colour: blue. Was £35, now £14.
A site that features multiple brands and free delivery. I may have just bought myself this Adidas sweatshirt.
Honestly there were like a gazillion pages i.e too many to chose from, but look at these trainers. I don’t know about you but I like my trainers to be brightly coloured and have a padded, flexy sole, these orange ‘Adidas Performance CC Fresh’ ones fit the bill. Plus, they look soooo comfortable. £30 down from £60.
