First of all, hello & welcome. Thank you very much for visiting my blog. Please stay, explore, enjoy, comment and journey with me towards a karma future.
Who am I ?
This is the weird narcissistic part where I talk about myself, in the hope that you like what you hear. So here we go.
I am a twenty something female who wants to share my passion for health, fitness and wellbeing with you. Not in a preachy “You must drink this kale, avocado and spirulina juice every day after completing your Pilates class” kind of way, in a humorous, accessible and fun way (hopefully).
Why this Blog?
When the ignorant bliss of eating whatever whenever ended, I was left in world of frustration and pain. I had always been active (my parents had me in the pool at 3, to prevent future drowning, and in the ballet studio at 4, to prevent me walking like a pigeon for the rest of my life) and I never thought much about the food I was consuming.
At 18 I stopped dancing as I couldn’t afford the lessons. My body began to change; weight gain, bloating, stomach cramps, lethargy, worsening cystic acne, low mood, the list goes on. Something had to change. I did virtually no exercise and had no clue how to nourish my body; starving it one day then stuffing it with cheese and bacon the next, if I had to eat more than 3 broccoli florets i’d complain.
After hearing about yoga I thought i’d give it a go, but with £0 in the bank, I turned to Youtube. After a few months I really got into it and yoga led to pilates videos, HIIT, cardio dance, cardio boxing e.t.c My love of fitness was born and to my mum’s delight, my mood improved. [Shout out to the following Youtube channels: Tara Stiles Yoga, Popsugar Fitness, XHIT daily, HASfit]
But my body still didn’t feel right. I was frequently doubled over in pain and too often bloated to the point of looking like I was pregnant with octuplets. I began reading up on nutrition and later decided to study for a diploma in the subject.
I may not be 100% happy with how I look, where I live or what I do, but I am on my way and so much healthier, stronger and aware of my body and what it requires to function at its best.
I eat a dairy/gluten/refined sugar free diet and recipes on this blog will reflect that. However, I want to make it clear that what works for me may not work for you. My advice would be to eat the things that make you feel good inside and out.
My head is full of ideas, hopes and dreams for my future but they all seem a little chaotic, clouded and unattainable. Add to that the fact that I am 22, eternally single, very poor and still living with my parents. Seriously how does one ‘adult’ these days?
In an ideal world I want to travel the globe, find like minded people, work out under the sun, dance under the stars and photograph every moment.
I have a loonnngggg way to go and a lot of hard work ahead of me, but with you the journey won’t seem so daunting. So join me on path to a happier, healthier ‘karma future’; I figure with 7 billion people out there, there must be someone who shares my interests, right?
